The peoples candidate, Lloyd Scher held his second town hall meeting at South Regional Library on Thursday Sept. 8.
Lloyd is running for North Carolina senate seat #39 against Dan Bishop who was invited to attend this meeting but declined. At this meeting Lloyd talked about Senior Citizens in the state of North Carolina. In addition to Seniors, his primary issues are education, environment, infrastructure, and of course business development. He wants to repeal HB2, properly fund schools, reinstate the NC film tax credit, deal with coal ash and rebuild the states infrastructure.
Lloyd is very passionate about current issues affecting seniors across the state. During his 8 years serving as a Mecklenburg County Commissioner, he was president of the National Aging Commission for 4 years with the National Association of Counties. In his discussion, he indicated that of the 106,000 citizens in District #39, over 47,000 are 55 years and older. He stated that “we have to take care of seniors”. He commented that this involves all of our citizens. Wills, and Living wills need to be in place, medical issues need to be addressed with family, friends and especially doctors, transportation must be a high priority to get seniors to doctors, shop for groceries and visit family, independent living at some facility should be addressed dependent upon the health of the senior citizen and last but not least banking must be addressed early on in the process of evaluating the needs of senior citizens. He emphasized the need for family and friends to assist in researching what local, state and federal services are available and provided to our citizens on a daily basis.
I know that Lloyd would like to discuss these issues with you so please visit him on his web site at www.scher4senate.com to learn more about the man that I know to be sincere to be a public servant to the people he will serve.
